October is a very busy time of year for everyone… we are gearing up for 2 mission projects for the end of the year ……………..but currently we are taking time to celebrate daily good deeds to our community. State Farm’s commercial was the inspiration for our project.
Join us in writing down our good deeds to the community on the colorful poster boards around the clinic and celebrating helping one another.
In Celebration of Physical Therapy Month we are educating our community on falls and how to prevent them.
If you are 65 years old or older … ask yourself these 3 questions.
1. Have you fallen in the past year?
2. Do you feel unsteady when standing or walking?
3. Do you worry about falling?
If you answer “yes” to any of these key screening questions, they are considered at increased risk of falling. Further assessment is recommended.
We offer in depth screening on falls and it is covered by insurances…. If you feel that you could benefit from this please just reach out to us and we will help you get scheduled.
With the nation’s focus on the opioid epidemic …..physical therapy is stepping up to help individuals that suffer from chronic pain. Physical Therapy has many treatment options available to assist in reducing pain of all origins.
Here in our own clinic we have added a High powered Aspen Laser to assist with reduction and resolution of pain.
Since the 80’s laser has been used for medical purposes, for surgery and physical therapy. As a matter of fact when a laser ray, with a wave length between 600 and 1300 nm, hits a biological tissue, it produces a photochemical effect called “photo modulation”33–36.
Later was proved that basically all this is due to important cell modifications such as a mytocondrial stimulation with an increasing production of ATP and activation of microcirculation, peristalsis activation, analgesic effects due to hyperpolarization of the nerve decreasing excitability of algoreceptors. Transformation of prostaglandines in prostaciclines produces the inhibition of inflammatory mediators adding also anti edema effect, neovascularization.
These modifications such as anti-inflammatory and analgesic effects, are related to density of power. (ΔP = W/cm 2 ), energy supplied, E = P.T (sec) and how the photonic beam penetrates the body.
